Vitro R&D Analytical Services group is hiring one technician. This technician will perform analytical testing and preparation of glass in the physical lab. The technician must have a working knowledge of analytical procedures including a basic understanding of analytical terminology. The Technician must have the ability to follow SOPs, as well as compliance standards and safety practices.
 
 

Responsibilities

  • Safely processing and analyzing samples, accurately and efficiently
  • Performing login, information data entry, handling and sampling of chemical specimens and preparing analytical reports, as needed
  • Willingness to learn / cross-train and work in other analytical labs
  • Preparing and validating reagents, controls and calibrators in labs
  • Being able to operate crane/hoist and other large devices for glass inspection in pilot plant
  • Being able to do simple instrument maintenance
  • Other duties as appropriate for a laboratory technician position

Qualifications

  • Aptitude and willingness to do hands-on laboratory work, make observations/draw conclusions and accurately organize/document results in spreadsheets/reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows, MS Office software
  • Ability to accurately organize, enter and present data in MS Office products
  • Ability to work independently without any supervision
  • Must be a team player
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adherence to safe work practices and compliance with all environmental, health, safety and security protocols as specified by Vitro personnel or documented procedures.
  • Aptitude and willingness to continually learn and expand skill set
  • Be able to lift more than 30 pounds

Desired:

  • Experience in writing lab reports
  • Experience with analytical techniques, instrument maintenance preferred
  • Experience with high temperature furnace operations, chemical handling
  • Prior experience with laboratory information management system (LIMS) software highly preferred.
