This position is responsible for the safe and profitable operation of both the Flat Glass Distribution and Insulated Glass Fabrication portions of Vitro Architectural Glass operations in Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. John’s, Newfoundland. These responsibilities include managing the fabrication and delivery of flat glass products and, along with supporting staff, overseeing all aspects of operations with a focus on bottom-line profitability and customer satisfaction.
The incumbent ensures that the facility is in compliance with all aspects of Vitro’s Environment, Health and Safety requirements to ensure a safe and environmentally sound workplace.
The incumbent is responsible for financial control of the site, including building and maintaining the operating budget to deliver maximum operational efficiency and lowest possible cost, and making sure that spending is within budget, while meeting customer quality and delivery requirements.
Computer proficiency is required, and the incumbent must have excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
A minimum of ten years’ experience in a key leadership role in a manufacturing environment is required and experience in flat glass distribution and insulated glass production is highly desirable. A strong background in inventory management, customer relations and Continuous Improvement is highly desirable. The incumbent must have excellent organizational, managerial and interpersonal skills to make appropriate operating judgements involving safety, technical, engineering, financial, and human resource aspects of the operation.
